Every second counts.  Each second asking us if you should call 911 is a second that we lose to respond if it is actually an emergency.  A quick "what should I do" guide is below:

To report a fire, smoke, odors, fumes, fire alarms or hazmat spills, call 911 immediately and move to safety.

If you suspect that exhaust from a heater or heating system, car, cooking appliance or other item is entering an indoor space, call 911 immediately and go outside.

For medical concerns, call 911 immediately - do not call the fire station; doing so will only delay necessary care because we cannot give medical advice over the phone.

For wildfire information, visit the Alaska Wildland Fire Information website or call the Alaska Interagency Fire Information Office at 907-356-5511

To advise dispatch of planned burns, accidental alarm pulls, or planned alarm maintenance, call 907-459-6800.

For other non-emergency resources for car seat checks, CPR classes, etc., please see our Community Resources page.
