Mayor's Welcome:

Remote. Beautiful. Scenic. Friendly. Welcoming. Cold!

All of these words (and more) have been used to describe Fairbanks, the town in which I am honored to serve as Mayor.

Fairbanks is known for its cultural diversity, its arts community, the northern lights, dog mushing events, ice carving, and our many celebrations throughout the year which spotlight its rich history. But I would say that the number one reason people come to Fairbanks, either to live or visit, is the warmth of the people who call Fairbanks home. I am a third generation Fairbanks resident and I have seen many changes, but one thing has remained the same: the people are what make Fairbanks the best place to live!

Folks often ask, “When is the best time to visit?” Well, I would say “anytime,” but each and every month or season offers something different and exciting. March brings winter events, July brings our annual “Golden Days” celebration, and in between are other wonderful activities that are too numerous to mention. I guess you’ll have to come for a visit to find out!

Fairbanks is the “Golden Heart City.” I am honored and proud to call it home.
