A noise ordinance variance must be obtained for any activity, event, or construction that will be unduly loud or which will occur during the hours of 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. as described in Fairbanks General Code Sec. 46-42, disturbing the peace. Violation of the noise ordinance without an approved variance may result in the violator being charged with disturbing the peace, a Class B misdemeanor.
Noise ordinance variance applications are submitted to the City Mayor’s Office, and the City Engineer, Public Works Director, and Police Chief may be asked to review the application. Review is usually complete within 5-7 working days, and a letter will be sent to the contact person listed below.
