Code Compliance

Code Compliance Specialist Jarrod Zerbe is the public point of contact for general city code violations.  Jarrod directs concerns to the correct departments, investigates complaints, aids code enforcement, and coordinates multi-department abatement actions. 

Jarrod works with property owners, city staff, and neighborhood volunteers for the betterment of our community.

Most code violations fall into some specific sections of the Fairbanks General Code.  Below are links to the most commonly reported code sections.

Blighted Properties

In the summer of 2024, the City Council passed Ordinance 6284, an ordinance amending Fairbanks General Code by enacting FGC Section 10-208 to prevent and address blight.  This ordinance allows the city to address properties with multiple specific code violations more rapidly and levy increased civil penalties against non-compliant owners.

Voluntary Property Cleanup Program

The City of Fairbanks is pleased to announce the launch of the Voluntary Property Cleanup Program.  This program is designed to aid homeowners increase the overall aesthetic appeal and economic vibrancy of the community by providing a no cost rolloff dumpster to owners of lots, single family residences, or duplex residences for rapid cleanups of their property grounds.  Volunteer labor assistance may be available for those who could use a helping hand.

Volunteers are a key part of any community, and the City wants to help connect owners who need help with voluntary cleanups with those willing to help spruce up your neighborhood.  If you would like to be on the contact list for voluntary cleanup assistance, please click on the Cleanup Volunteer Form link on the right.
