We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to clear roadways effectively. Please continue to check the snow removal schedule for upcoming service locations, as updates will be posted as necessary.
To assist our crews, we kindly remind residents not to place snow from driveways or properties into the public right-of-way. Our crews focus on clearing the right-of-way, and while we aim to minimize disruptions, driveway approaches may be impacted during operations.
For optimal results, we encourage residents to keep driveways clear year-round, which helps ensure that snow removal leaves minimal disruption at driveways. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our community safe and accessible during winter weather.
10/24/2024 @ 7:45 AM - Garbage Collection & Snow Removal Update: The Public Works Department is pleased to report that the garbage collection crews have caught up from the recent snowstorm, and all routes are back on schedule for next week.
Our streets crew will be focusing on neighborhood areas today and tomorrow. Now that the water has solidified, crews are working to create better berms and perform general cleanup from the week's snow removal operations.
For more information on upcoming snow removal areas, please check the snow removal schedule.
10/23/2024 @ 7:30 AM - Garbage Collection & Snow Removal Update: Garbage collection has resumed today, with crews servicing the regular Wednesday routes.
The Streets Division is focusing on snow removal, beginning with berm pickup on 1st through 3rd Avenues this morning. Crews will then proceed southward through the core area, conditions permitting. Our goal is to reach 8th Avenue by the end of the day, contingent on vehicle access and cooperation from residents.
We appreciate your support in keeping the streets clear for our crews to work efficiently.
10/22/24 @ 12:07 PM - Garbage Collection & Snow Removal Update: We have made significant progress on arterial snow plowing, with approximately 85% of these roads now cleared. Some graders are now being reassigned to begin plowing in residential neighborhoods. During this round of snow removal, we will be plowing and berming the streets to create a smoother surface for the remainder of the winter season. Residents should note that streets will be temporarily narrower due to the berms, but next week, we will begin berm removal in the neighborhoods.
This year, the first neighborhoods in the rotation are Weeks Field, Memorial Park, and Moorland Acres.
Additionally, night shift snow removal operations will commence on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 9 PM. These operations will focus on removing snow in the core areas and along arterial roads.
We anticipate garbage collection services will be back on track by the end of today. In the afternoon, trucks will team up to complete both Monday and Tuesday’s garbage collection routes for any remaining neighborhoods.
10/22/24 @ 9:08 AM: Our snow crew is actively working on clearing the emergency plow routes while also addressing storm drains that have become plugged due to the recent storm. Once the main arterial roads are cleared, we will begin focusing on residential neighborhoods. We understand that berms left in neighborhoods can be frustrating, but with the current slushy conditions, allowing this material to freeze on the roads could cause damage to vehicles. We are doing everything we can to manage this unusual weather event.
In terms of garbage collection, today's crew is working on the regular Tuesday route, while an additional packer continues to clear Monday's remaining stops. Once the Tuesday routes are complete, the team will shift to finish Monday's collection.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore normal operations. Thank you!
10/21/24 @ 10:37 AM: Due to recent inclement weather, trash collection scheduled for Monday, October 21st, will shut down services at noon. If your garbage is not collected today, it will be rescheduled for collection on Tuesday, October 22nd. Please note that garbage routes normally scheduled for Tuesday will continue as planned.
We encourage residents to check back for updates, as this schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions.
Thank you for your understanding and stay safe.
